All players are required to have a valid USA Hockey registration. You can obtain a valid USA Hockey registration at https://membership.usahockey.com. There is a $46 fee for a USA Hockey registration.​

2021-2022 Learn To Play Hockey - Session 2 (11/6/21 - 1/8/22), Group 1 (11:45AM-12:35PM)

Intro to In House / Learn To Play Hockey - Session 2 (11/6/21 - 1/8/22), Group 1 (11:45AM-12:35PM)

 

LBYH’s LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY -  is for skaters ages 4-10 years old who have already had some skating experience and are now interested in learning the fundamentals of ice hockey. Participants should not be a current travel hockey player. 

Program Description:

  • The program covers the basic hockey ABC’s for the beginner – skating, agility, balance, edges, and all kinds of fun with pucks
  • The more experienced skater will work on more advanced skating techniques, puck handling passing, and shooting
  • Skaters will be placed in groups based on skill level
  • The program is strongly recommended for any player interested in playing in-house hockey, and who can benefit from more on-ice instruction

Minimum age, skill, and equipment requirements:

  • 4 to 10 years of age
  • All participants should already have basic skating skills, which is the ability to stand on skates, keep balance and take strides
  • Full hockey equipment is needed from head to toe, which includes
    • Certified Hockey Helmet w/full mask (NO bike helmets) and mouthguard
    • Hockey jersey
    • Hockey gloves
    • Elbow pads
    • Shoulder pads
    • Hockey pants
    • Shin pads
    • Hockey skates
    • Hockey socks
    • Hockey stick
    • Athletic cup and supporter
    • Water bottle
    • Note: if you have any questions about equipment or need advice on what to purchase please let us know

  • All sessions held at the Hayden Ice Rink in Lexington
  • Saturdays, 2 Groups. 11:45 AM -12:35 PM, 12:40 PM - 1:30 PM
  • Session 1 – Sept 11 - Oct 30
  • Session 2 – Nov 6 - Jan 8 (Excluding 12/25 & 1/1)
  • Session 3 –Jan 15 - Mar 5

Program cost:

  • The cost of the clinic is $175 per session
  • LBYH offers a family discount of 15% for 2 or more siblings
  • LIMITED TO 35 PARTICIPANTS PER SESSION

Each player must have a current USA Hockey registration. To register for USA Hockey go to http://www.usahockeyregistration.com and register as a player. You will need to enter your USA Hockey registration number to register for this program.

It is not necessary to have a membership with the Hayden Recreation Center to participate.
